Why are there only 3 shades?
This iconic formula is challenging due to the encapsulated pigment technology, which contains white capsules that provide a protective shell to evenly coat each pigment. These are released when massaged on the skin to reveal the pigment. While developing deeper shades using this technology with UV filters, it creates an undesirable grey-ish white cast on the skin. This is why we are actively under development and working hard to meet your high standards to ensure you have the best experience, no matter the skin tone. Our international territories now offer 6 shades of CC Cream, however due to FDA regulations in the US, products with SPF need to follow strict guidelines, which often results in years of testing before approved for sale. Thus, offering shade expansion with UV filters is lengthy and complex. We are actively working to bring all 6 shades of CC Cream to the US market like our other territories. However, deeper shades are available in both BB Cream and CC Water.
What is encapsulated pigment technology?
Encapsulated pigments are white capsules that provide a protective shell and evenly coat each pigment. These pigments are made with a tri-color blend of red, yellow and black pigments to achieve the desired skin shade. To release these pigments, apply CC Cream on the skin and massage to break the capsules and reveal the pigment. The result is a highly sensorial experience to promote smoother application, even coverage, and a brighter skin-like finish.
Why can I buy other shades internationally, but not in the US?
Unlike the UK/EU, the US must abide by FDA regulations, and products with SPF need to follow strict OTC guidelines. This process can take multiple years of testing before approved for sale. Thus, it is much faster to launch more shades of our iconic CC Cream in the UK and EU. Rest assured, we are actively working hard to make more shades available in the US as soon as possible.

So yes, you can use CC Cream as your daily moisturizer! If your skin is dry or needs a little more oomph, we recommend applying your nourishing or moisturizing face cream before CC Cream.

No, because it contains honey. Honey is a byproduct of bees. Erborian’s product line does not use any animal derived ingredients.
