How do you avoid blackheads?
Impurities and Blackheads
Stress, sweat, overexposure to sun, fatty sugar-rich food, and environmental factors can all lead to impurities and blackheads in the T-zone. These can cause acne and build-up of excess sebum which lead to oily, shiny looking skin. Though we can't change your external factors, we can help you to combat these blemishes and say goodbye to pesky blackheads!
What are blackheads?
Impurities – and, by extension, blackheads – often appear in the T-zone, which is comprised of the forehead, nose and chin.
A combination of excess sebum and dead skin cells causes pores to become clogged, resulting in the formation of blackheads and acne. Urban life, exposure to pollution and poor lifestyle habits are all factors that can be responsible for impurities on your face.
How can we prevent blackheads?
Firstly, don't pick at blackheads! This can make them even worse! Secondly, make sure you cleanse your face thoroughly every day. Ideally, you should use the double cleansing method, which involves using an oil-based cleanser followed by a water-based one. That way, you can be sure of removing all those nasty particles that have built up on your skin during the day.
Many people wrongly believe that cleansing oils will make their skin greasy and aggravate sebum production, but actually the opposite is true! Oils attract other oils, so a cleansing oil works like a magnet, lifting away traces of makeup, pollution, dust and dirt on the surface of the skin. By using a water-based cleanser immediately afterwards, you can remove any remaining oils and purify the skin surface.
The power of charcoal
You've probably heard of charcoal face masks – and for a very good reason! Charcoal is your go-to ingredient if you want to get rid of pesky impurities! With both purifying and detoxifying properties, it helps to eliminate impurities and control excess sebum.
Our recommendation: if you have combination or oily skin, apply a charcoal mask, such as our Black Scrub, once or twice a week. For those with normal or sensitive-prone skin, once a week is enough. Charcoal is a powerful ingredient, and if it's used too often, it can make your skin feel tight. For a gentle daily cleanse, try our Charcoal Mousse!
